Director: Omer Fast (2016)
A heavy sense of deja vu hangs over this time twisting British thriller.
Based on Tom McCarthy’s 2005 cult novel it’s too caught up in its exploration of reality and perception to offer much entertainment.
A random accident leaves city worker Tom physically and emotionally traumatised. Tom Sturridge is suitably intense and obsessive but he’s a humourless figure who’s hard to like.
Having received millions of pounds in compensation, he begins bringing his fragmented memories to life in exact detail.
Tom’s haunted by memories, visited by an ex girlfriend, gun carrying thugs and an old friend who warns him against trust anyone.
Fans of Donnie Darko (2001) will imagine they’ve seen it all before. Albeit without the giant rabbit.
