This animated modern day fable is a gorgeous coming-of-age adventure, and an irresistible avalanche of charm, fun and excitement to sweep away boredom from your own little monsters.
Shanghai teenager Yi, is a violin playing self-proclaimed loner who encounters a super-cute young yeti with magical powers, whom she nicknames Everest.
Helping him return home to err, Mt. Everest empowers Yi to achieve her dream of exploring China’s vast and beautiful landscape.
They’re chased by evil explorer and his heavily armed henchman who want to return Everest to the prison-like laboratory from where he escaped.
Full of epic sweep and respect for the natural world, it’s beautifully rendered in top drawer CGI, as you’d expect from the makers of the How To Train Your Dragon franchise, and my 8 year old and his mate who I took to the screening were particularly tickled by the whooping snakes.
Emotionally rich and satisfying, this is a huge hug of big hearted furry fun.
