Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway are all at sea in this wildly frustrating revenge thriller.

They’re reunited for the first time since 2024’s sci-fi epic, Interstellar, but the results are more codswallop than cosmic.

Beginning promisingly as a Caribbean-set homage to 1940s Hollywood, McConaughey plays a former soldier with a shady past who rents out his big game fishing boat.

In real life it’s the idyllic island of Mauritius and the Magic Mike star flaunts his beach body with a seedy swagger, much to the delight of Diane Lane’s sexed-up sugar mummy.

Of all the bars in all the world, in walks Hathaway, a blonde femme fatale, who makes waves when she begs him for help, which is the when the story starts listing in a storm of bizarre plotting.

Brit writer and director, Steven Knight, wants to send us down a rabbit hole of intrigue and murder, but instead we’re washed down a ridiculous metaphysical plughole.
